The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has thwarted a massive attempt to smuggle narcotics out of the country through the Karachi port. According to a spokesperson, 180 kilograms of ice were recovered from a container being shipped to Cameroon, which had been concealed in the seams of used clothing.
The spokesperson said that investigations are ongoing to apprehend individuals involved in the smuggling network after the narcotics were recovered. The spokesperson further revealed that the accused had been absconding since 2014 and had embezzled Rs 30 million through his position as an accounts officer in a company. The accused’s company, PI A Equity Limited, is a subsidiary of Arif Habib Corporation Limited, Fauzia Fertilizer Company Limited, Leek City Holdings, AKD Group, The City School Group, and Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited.
The IG Sindh said that cameras are being used to catch vehicles on a daily basis in Karachi, with over 1,300 cameras already installed and 2,200 more to be set up.
