Lahore police are facing a daunting task of identifying 824 women who were abducted in the city over a period of five years. According to police records, these women were abducted between 2021 and 2025. The highest number of missing women was reported from the Cantt division, with 282 cases pending investigation. The body of a woman was found in a field near Chak Shafeeq in Pakpattan, and police identified her as a teacher from a government school, whose daughter recognized her by her shoes.
A total of 152 women from the Saddar division, 124 from the City division, 110 from Model Town, 100 from Iqbal Town, and 56 from the Civil Lines division remain untraced. In all cases, charges have been filed, but no information has been found about the abducted women. According to the police, the accused were being taken to a location for forensic analysis, but their accomplices opened fire to save them near Pappan Kha.
The spokesperson of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) stated that the accused had been a fugitive since 2014 and had embezzled 30 million rupees as an accountant in a company. The FIA has been carrying out an investigation against the Arif Habib Corporation Limited, Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited, Lea City Holdings, AKD Group, The City School Group, and Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited.
In another development, the Sindh government has claimed to have arrested vehicles through cameras in Karachi on a daily basis, with 1,300 CCTV cameras installed across the city, and 2,200 more to be installed soon.
