The opposition leader in the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has accused the parliament of remaining silent in the face of a global crisis. Speaking in the assembly, he said that the parliament has not condemned Iran’s aggression and is moving towards a war-torn region without taking any action. According to him, the parliament was formed on the basis of power and influence, and it is not capable of running the country in the current circumstances.
Achakzai said that the opposition wants to speak out against the rising petrol prices, but the assembly is adjourned, and this is not acceptable to the people. He also expressed his concerns about the country’s economic situation and the need for the government to take immediate action to stabilize the economy.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly responded to Achakzai’s statement, saying that if the opposition brings a resolution condemning Iran’s aggression and agrees to pass it, it will be passed. However, he added that it is the responsibility of the opposition to take the initiative.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has directed the government to implement cost-cutting and energy-saving measures across the country. In a separate incident, a 4-year-old girl was kidnapped and murdered in Faisalabad, and the police have arrested the culprit.
In other news, the Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition to immediately suspend the Chairman of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). Despite the tense situation in the Middle East, there has been an improvement in air travel. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expressing his hope that the founder of PTI will be released soon.
The Chairman of the PTI, Imran Khan, is currently receiving treatment at Shifa International Hospital, and his daughter, Alizeh Khan, has expressed her concern about his health. The government is making all efforts to maintain stability in the economy despite the global crisis.
In a separate development, the Pakistani ambassador to France, Moeen-Ur-Rehman Marri, has said that the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan is a second war that began in February, but it is being largely ignored. He also expressed his concerns about the Taliban government’s support for terrorists, women’s rights, and its stance on Iran.
The Ambassador also discussed the country’s relations with the European Union and the need for Pakistan to take a strong stance against terrorism. In a related development, the US has threatened to increase its military presence in the region, and Iran has responded by saying that it will not be deterred from its goals.
The Iranian government has also stated that it will not engage in negotiations or mediation unless it is for a ceasefire. The US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, has said that Iran is in a state of chaos and despair, and it is firing missiles at schools and hospitals.
In other news, the District and Session Court in Karachi has heard a case related to a robbery that took place in a house. The Lahore High Court has also heard a petition to transfer the Chairman of NEPRA to a hospital for treatment.
