The Power Division has announced a significant increase in water release from the Tarbela Dam, leading to a substantial boost in electricity generation. According to sources within the Power Division, the peak-time electricity production has reached a record 5,800 megawatts, against the country’s total installed capacity of 11,500 megawatts.
The spokesperson for the Power Division confirmed that the increased electricity generation has led to stability in the National Grid, enabling an additional 500 megawatts of power transmission. Furthermore, the transmission of electricity from southern regions has increased by 100 megawatts.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Power Division revealed that the Discos have managed load shedding during peak hours for 2 hours the previous night, and economic load management is still in place for high-negligible feeders. However, the spokesperson clarified that the economic load management is not related to peak hours’ load shedding.
Additionally, the spokesperson for the Power Division announced that around 5,500 megawatts of plants are shut down due to the lack of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
