Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, is expected to arrive in Islamabad tonight with a small team. According to government sources, the high-level talks and negotiations between the Pakistani and American teams have led to the possibility of the second round of peace talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad. The US logistical and security team is already present in Islamabad, and the progress is a result of the crucial talks and discussions with the Pakistani team.
According to Iranian media, Foreign Minister Araghchi will visit Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow starting today, with the aim of reviewing the ongoing developments in the region, holding bilateral consultations, and assessing the latest situation in the war. Iranian media further stated that the Foreign Minister will meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit to Islamabad.
Amir Saeed Awan, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had earlier said that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had contacted Pakistani political and military leadership. According to Awan, the Iranian Foreign Minister telephoned Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, discussing the situation in the region, ceasefire, and diplomatic efforts made by Pakistan to facilitate talks between the US and Iran.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Presidential Office said that the Iranian leadership has a unified stance. Ishaq Dar said that immediate progress is necessary for peace and stability in the region. Iranian media reported that the Foreign Minister had also telephoned Army Chief, General Asim Munir, discussing the situation in the region and ceasefire.
