Islamabad, Pakistan – In a significant development for the country’s IT sector, Pakistan has successfully completed the first phase of its five-G spectrum auction process. The auction, which began with the presence of key officials, including Minister of State for Information Technology, Shazia Marri, Minister of Finance, Aisha Ghaus Pasha, and Minister of Information, Farrukh Habib, marked a historic day for Pakistan, as it marked the country’s entry into the five-G era.
Addressing the gathering, Shazia Marri expressed her satisfaction over the successful completion of the auction process, saying that it was a significant step towards Pakistan’s inclusion in the five-G world. She noted that the country had previously been operating on a 274 MHz spectrum, which was one of the lowest in the region. The minister emphasized that the successful auction would result in improved internet speeds and better connectivity for the country.
The five-G spectrum auction process, which was conducted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), saw a significant increase in demand for 2600 MHz spectrum, with 30 bids being received for 19 lots. In contrast, the previous auction had seen 190 MHz spectrum being sold for 2600 MHz. The increased demand led to a 5% increase in the base price for the 3500 MHz spectrum, with 20 lots being sold for the higher frequency.
The successful completion of the auction process is seen as a major step forward for Pakistan’s IT sector, which has been struggling to keep pace with the rest of the world. The country’s entry into the five-G era is expected to bring significant benefits, including improved internet speeds, better connectivity, and increased economic opportunities.
In related news, the government has taken several measures to stabilize the country’s economy, including the successful completion of the five-G spectrum auction process. The government has also taken steps to promote the IT sector, with a focus on creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.
Meanwhile, the country’s foreign minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan, saying that it was a second war that had begun in February last year but was being largely ignored by the international community. He also highlighted the need for Pakistan to take a more proactive role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
In other news, the Islamabad High Court has rejected a request by the PTA to suspend the chairman of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), while the Sindh High Court has acquitted a woman accused of murdering her husband.
The five-G spectrum auction process is seen as a major milestone for Pakistan’s IT sector, and its successful completion is expected to bring significant benefits for the country’s economy and citizens. As the country looks to the future, it is clear that there are many challenges ahead, but with the successful completion of the auction process, Pakistan is well on its way to becoming a major player in the global IT sector.
