The government of Sindh has made third-party insurance mandatory for all vehicles in the province. According to a spokesperson, from now on, no vehicle will be registered without insurance, and no token tax will be collected. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah stated that in the event of an accident, the heirs of the deceased will receive Rs. 7 lakh, and in the case of disability, Rs. 5 lakh will be provided as compensation. He added that the government’s priority is to provide financial protection to the victims of traffic accidents, and this move will be a major milestone in ensuring road safety and protecting the rights of consumers.
The Chief Minister said that the law on third-party insurance will be a significant relief for poor families affected by accidents and that the affected citizens will receive immediate financial relief under the law. He also stated that the new law has been made to ensure that the innocent citizens do not suffer due to any unfortunate incident.
The Chief Minister has also approved the new compensation system for motorcyclists, which will provide an additional Rs. 5 lakh compensation to the heirs of the deceased and Rs. 3 lakh compensation to the injured motorcyclists. He has also announced that the government will bear the cost of medical treatment of the injured motorcyclists.
