Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Suhail Anwar Khan, has announced that the provincial government rejects the fuel price hike, and has announced a 22,500-rupee relief for motorcyclists. Governor Khan, flanked by Information Adviser Shafiq Jan and Finance Minister Muzmal Aslam, addressed a press conference in Peshawar, stating that the government has decided to provide medical treatment to PTI Chairman Imran Khan as per his wishes.
Governor Khan stated that the federal government has not reduced its expenses, and that the people are bearing the brunt of the fuel price hike. He emphasized that the provincial government has rejected the fuel price hike, and that the federal government should reduce its expenditures instead of passing the burden to the people.
The governor also announced that the provincial government will not hike the fares of public transport, and that it will bear the expenses itself. He stated that 10 pink buses will be added to the fleet of 140 buses in the province, to be used exclusively for women, and that the fares will be reduced.
Governor Khan further stated that the provincial government will provide relief to farmers, and that 130,000 households will be provided with solar systems before June. He also announced that the provincial government is willing to improve its relations with the establishment, and that it has recommended to the federal government to reduce its expenditures, and to provide relief to the people.
Finance Minister Muzmal Aslam stated that Pakistan produces only 15% of its own fuel, and that the price of fuel has increased from 150 rupees per liter to 310 rupees per liter. He also stated that the federal government has earned 822 billion rupees from January to June, and that it will earn 1700 billion rupees by the end of June.
The finance minister further stated that 46% of households in Pakistan have gas connections, while 54% do not. He also stated that the price of diesel has increased from 130 rupees per liter to 310 rupees per liter, and that the regime change has led to an increase in unemployment and poverty in the country.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s address to the nation was played during the press conference, along with the speeches of other leaders, including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Khawaja Asif.
In other news, the police in Islamabad have arrested several people involved in organized crime and gang activity. The authorities have also issued a warning to social media users not to spread inflammatory content.
The UAE has confirmed that four people have been killed in Iranian attacks, including a Pakistani, a Nepali, and a Bangladeshi.
The situation on the Afghanistan border remains tense, with the government continuing its operations against terrorism.
