Location: Haripur, Peshawar, Islamabad
On Sunday, a significant protest movement gained momentum as multiple convoys, including one led by Opposition Leader Omar Ayub Khan, departed for Islamabad to demand the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. The protest is being dubbed as a “final call” against what the opposition claims are the federal government’s oppressive measures.
Omar Ayub Leads Haripur Convoy
Omar Ayub Khan, leader of the opposition, led the convoy from Haripur, addressing his supporters before departure. He stated that the government’s actions, such as shutting down major routes and highways, reflected its fear of public dissent.
Disruption of Routes Allegedly to Hinder Protestors
Ayub accused the government of shutting down the Motorway under the guise of repair work to obstruct the protesters’ journey to Islamabad. Despite these restrictions, he assured his supporters that the protest would persist until Imran Khan is freed.
Solidarity in Haripur and Hazara
Omar Ayub praised the enthusiasm and participation of the people from Haripur and Hazara, emphasizing that their strong turnout demonstrated their opposition to the federal government’s policies. He revealed that convoys from Abbottabad and Haripur would merge as they made their way toward Islamabad.
Ali Amin Gandapur Joins the Movement
Meanwhile, former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who departed from Peshawar, has also joined the protest movement, adding further weight to the growing opposition.
A Call for Continued Resistance
Supporters in Haripur cheered as Omar Ayub pledged to continue the protest against the federal government’s actions, calling the public’s growing discontent a sign of the government’s weakening position.
