Hyderabad Kingsmen Secure Dominant Victory Over Multan Sultans in PSL Eliminator
In a one-sided contest at the Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Hyderabad Kingsmen dominated the proceedings against Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Eliminator. The Kingsmen restricted the Sultans to a meager 159 runs in 20 overs and then successfully chased down the target in just the 16th over without facing any significant pressure. Usman Khan top-scored with 64 runs, while Maaz Zafar remained unbeaten with 64 runs. Labuschagne contributed 11 runs, while Saaim Ayub remained not out with 15 runs.
Multan Sultans’ Mohammad Irfan and Steve Smith took one wicket each, while Hyderabad Kingsmen’s Mohammad Ali, Aaqib Javed, and Hunain Shah took two wickets each. Glenn Maxwell and Saaim Ayub also took one wicket each.
Maaz Zafar was awarded the man of the match for his outstanding batting performance. The Hyderabad Kingsmen will now face Islamabad United in the Eliminator 2 and will move on to the finals against Multan Sultans, who will face Peshawar Zalmi.
Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne expressed his team’s intention to try and restrict the opposition to a lower score. Usman Khan hit 10 fours and 5 sixes to score a century in just 44 balls, which helped his team secure a crucial win.
Multan Sultans captain Ashton Turner expressed his team’s plan to focus on their batting, aiming to score over 200 runs. The Sultans’ playing XI saw Mohammad Nawaz replace Wasim Jnr.
Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi has qualified for the finals after defeating Islamabad United in the Eliminator 1. The Zalmi scored 221 runs in 20 overs, with Babar Azam scoring 103 runs in a remarkable innings that included 4 fours and 12 sixes.
The government has extended the subsidy on motorcycles, public transport, and goods transport for an additional month.
