Karachi, Pakistan – In a dramatic turn of events, a motorcyclist was rescued from a flooded drain on Faisal Street after torrential rains pounded the city, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake.
According to eyewitnesses, the motorcyclist was swept away by the raging waters in the drain near Nursery Furniture Market on Faisal Street. A passerby, who witnessed the incident, quickly sprang into action and helped pull the motorcyclist to safety.
The downpour, which started late last night, caused widespread flooding in various parts of the city, including Tipu Sultan Road. The traffic police have opened up the Small Traffic Lane near Punjab Colony for commuters to ease congestion.
In a series of unfortunate incidents, six people have lost their lives, while three others were injured in accidents related to the heavy rain and strong winds. A man died after being electrocuted in a house in New Karachi’s Hassan Brohi Goth, while another person was injured in a similar incident in the same area. In a separate incident, a rickshaw driver died after the roof of a building collapsed on him in Old Golimar.

In Hussainabad, a car fell into a drain near the Karamabad Underpass, but fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. A tree fell on two cars on Amirkhan Road due to strong winds and heavy rain.
Two teams from Lahore, who had chartered a flight to Karachi, landed safely at the Jinnah International Airport. The western winds are expected to enter Balochistan’s western regions by 5 pm on April 4 and are likely to remain in the upper regions until April 9.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation South said that the vehicle of the arrested accused has been taken into police custody. The government has started providing digital wallets to public transport and cargo vehicle owners for relief.
