Pakistan’s police have revealed the details of search operations conducted in various areas of Islamabad. According to a police spokesperson, these operations were carried out against criminal elements and individuals living in the country illegally. The spokesperson stated that 597 search operations were conducted in the first quarter of 2026, during which 57,961 individuals and 25,025 households were checked, and 6,871 shops and 2,188 hotels were searched.
During the screening process, 31 Afghans were arrested for living in the country illegally in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock District, Chakwal District, Mera, and Jehlum District. According to the police spokesperson, 19,343 motorcycles and 6,884 cars were inspected, and 3,383 suspicious individuals, including 362 Afghan citizens, were shifted to police stations.
The police spokesperson also revealed that 12 Kalashnikovs, 4 rifles, 8 firearms, 5 kilograms of hashish, 6 kilograms of heroin, 5 kilograms of ice, and liquor were recovered from the suspects. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) also seized 1.45 billion Iranian rials from a detainee in Karachi.
In other news, a diplomatic team from the United States is expected to arrive in Islamabad for talks with Iran. The Iranian Army Chief, Amir Hatami, stated that his country’s military is ready to make sacrifices and is prepared to make a strong stance against any aggression. However, Iran has yet to decide on sending a delegation to Islamabad for talks with the US.
Meanwhile, the government has taken measures to ensure the security of the Iranian delegation, with local hotels being vacated to accommodate the visitors. The US has also announced that its team will arrive in Islamabad before the next round of talks with Iran.
