DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A senior army officer, Lt Col Khalid Ameer, and three of his relatives, who were kidnapped earlier this week from Kulachi tehsil in Dera Ismail Khan, have been released unconditionally, according to a statement from the military on Saturday night.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that their safe release was achieved through the efforts of tribal elders and local notables. All abductees have returned home safely.
The officer, along with his two brothers and another individual, was abducted from a mosque in Mohalla Khadr Khel, Kulachi tehsil, where they were receiving visitors offering condolences for their father’s passing.
The kidnappers, suspected militants, forcibly took the three siblings, two of whom are employed by the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), respectively.
Earlier, videos emerged showing two of the brothers claiming they were “far away” from government-controlled areas, seated in front of a black backdrop, surrounded by armed men with obscured faces.
