In a significant operation, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NACIA) in Karachi’s Qaideabad area apprehended a three-member gang for duping citizens by posing as police officers and officials from sensitive agencies. The gang, led by Abubakar, had been involved in various types of frauds over the past seven years, targeting citizens by making phone calls and claiming to be police officers to harass them and siphon off their money. According to the police, the gang had managed to dupe citizens of millions of rupees.
The suspects, Abubakar, Nasir Ahmed, and Muhammad Hassan, were using their affiliation with a cellular company to provide fake SIM cards to Abubakar, and were also involved in activating these SIMs illegally. The police have registered a case against the suspects and are conducting further investigations to apprehend their accomplices.
The gang was using various mobile SIMs to target citizens, with Nasir Ahmed and Muhammad Hassan, who were associated with the cellular company, providing Abubakar with fake SIMs and activating them on an illegal basis. The authorities have revealed that the gang was involved in selling online products to citizens, collecting money, and ordering a large quantity of goods without making payments.
The police have registered a case against the suspects and are conducting further investigations to apprehend their accomplices. The victims of the gang’s activities have been identified and are being provided with assistance.
In another development, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a suspect involved in money laundering worth over Rs. 74 crore. The FIA has also registered a case against the suspect and is conducting further investigations to identify and apprehend other accomplices.
The government has announced a reduction of 23 rupees per liter in the price of jet fuel, bringing the price down to 471 rupees per liter. The move is expected to benefit the commercial airlines operating in the country.
