Iran has formally objected to the United Nations over the United States’ aerial bombardments conducted from the territories of five Arab states. Iranian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Arouni, filed a formal protest against the US for its unauthorized use of airspace and territories of the five Arab countries during the war against Iran. In a statement released from the office of President Ebrahim Raisi, Communications Deputy Mehdi Tabatabai stated that there is a perfect unity in the Iranian leadership. Arouni sent letters to the UN Secretary-General and Chairman of the Security Council on Wednesday, presenting this stance. According to Iranian Television, the Iranian Ambassador stated that Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait should adhere to the principles of good neighbors, as it is their global responsibility to not use their land against third countries. Iran claims that F-16, F-22, F-35, OAK, and P-8A aircraft used Arab territories for their attacks on Iran. The US and Israel’s “unprovoked aggression” began with air strikes on February 28, in which senior Iranian officials and commanders were assassinated. Iranian media reports that some media channels broadcast a statement attributed to the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, but the news was later removed as it turned out to be incorrect. They added that Iranian armed forces launched 100 successful retaliatory attacks on American and Israeli sensitive and strategic targets across the region. It is worth noting that after 40 days of war, a two-week ceasefire was implemented on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but the first round of talks between Tehran and Washington failed to produce any results. US President Donald Trump announced that his administration would wait for Iran’s invitation to the second round of talks. However, Iran has not yet expressed willingness to hold the second round of talks, and officials have considered the US demands and “naval blockade” to be significant obstacles to ending the war. The US TV channel reports that Trump has decided to send Steve Wietkoff and Jared Kushner to Islamabad for talks. According to the US TV channel, these talks may take place in Islamabad, where Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will also participate. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Navy has released images of its operations in the Strait of Hormuz. A UN peacekeeper from Indonesia died of a heart attack in Lebanon last month. Thus, the total number of UN peacekeepers killed in the war has risen to six. It may take years to restore trust between Iran and the United Arab Emirates after the war. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that they will continue to pressure Russia to end the war in Ukraine. Former New Zealand fast bowler Neil Wagner was banned for two years for using cocaine. Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he underwent surgery in December 2024 due to an enlarged prostate, which was announced at the time to the public.
