Pakistan’s U-16 Boys Team Embarks on UEFA U-16 Boys Development Tournament
Pakistan’s U-16 Boys Team has departed for the UEFA U-16 Boys Development Tournament, which is scheduled to take place at the Nameis Stadium Back Sports Complex in Kazakhstan from April 24-30. This is the first time Pakistan will participate in a UEFA event. The 19-member squad, selected by the National Coaching Staff, comprises talented players from across the country.
The tournament provides a significant opportunity for Pakistan’s young footballers to gain valuable experience and exposure. In a statement, Syed Mushtaq Gilani, President of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), said that access to European competitions at this level was previously unimaginable for Pakistani youth players. However, with this tournament, they will gain experience and compete with top teams from around the world.
The U-16 age group is a crucial phase for footballers to establish their identity and showcase their skills. The national squad includes goalkeepers Zumar Razaq, Naveedullah, defenders Muhammad Alam, Hamza Amjad, Mobashar Ahmed, Nadeem Hussein, Abdul Rehman Ali, Sayed Manzoor Shah, midfielders M. Mustafa, M. Eesa, Sagar Mehru, Haroon Riaz, Shehbaz Khan, Abdul Saeed, Hamza Yasser, M. Hanifullah, and forwards Danesh Masih, M. Rafi, and Qalamullah.
Sahil Tanvir, bowling coach of Quetta Gladiators, said that winning the tournament would require unity and coordination among the players. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, citing the example of New Zealand’s fast bowler, who was banned for two years due to substance abuse.
