Pakistan has witnessed a significant decline in terrorism incidents since the launch of Operation Ghaziabad, with a 65% reduction in reported cases. According to official documents, there were 240 reported terrorism incidents in the province before the operation, compared to just 80 since its inception. The highest number of incidents occurred in the ninth week of this year, with 48 cases reported, which decreased to 12 in the twelfth week following the operation.
Minister of State for Interior, Tahir Chaudhry, attributed the decline in terrorism to the targeting of terrorist sanctuaries and leaders in Afghanistan. During the operation, key masterminds behind terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Bannu were eliminated, who had used Afghan territory to plan attacks on Pakistan.
Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, credited the decline in terrorism incidents to the excellent performance of the Pakistan Army, Police, and law enforcement agencies. He stated that federal and provincial agencies were working together under the National Action Plan to eradicate terrorism and maintain peace in the country.
Separately, a boat capsized in the Indus River in the village of Ya’qub Manar, Sajawal, due to strong winds. Sher Afzal Murtaza criticized the current government, saying that a person who cannot even manage a primary school has been made chief minister, while the current chief minister has failed to form his cabinet in six months. The police announced that action would be taken against drivers without driving licenses.
Meanwhile, Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, visited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House for a meeting. The Prime Minister was briefed on a proposed fuel support program for motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahbaz Ali, said that the government had obtained a video clip of PTI founding leader Imran Khan’s son, Qasim Khan, in which he demanded the restoration of the GSP Plus status.
The government has initiated a plan to bring back $20 billion in foreign remittances from the Middle East and Europe. In a separate incident, thieves stole electricity lines from 26 transformers in the Bhaag area of the Bannu district, causing significant losses. The police said that five men had been arrested and charged in the case after the affected girl’s brother requested action.
The Punjab Health Department has taken action against five doctors at the Lady Willington Hospital in Lahore. Ammar Rashed stated that authorities had been established in all provinces to address issues in slum areas, but the CDAs remained unwilling to acknowledge them. The meeting of foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, which was being hosted by Pakistan, has concluded. Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Suhail Anwer Sindhu, stated that the comments made by PTI founding leader Imran Khan’s son, Qasim Khan, had been deemed contentious by the federal government.
