The official said that the US must change its policy of using pressure and threats before any negotiations can be resumed. Pakistan is currently acting as a mediator in the situation, and is trying to convince the US to lift its blockade on Iranian ports.
The Iranian official also stated that Iran views the US actions as a breach of the ceasefire agreement. The official added that Iran is willing to cooperate with Pakistan to resolve the situation. In a separate statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi stated that the US attack on a tanker and taking the crew hostage is a significant breach of the ceasefire agreement.
Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bunting said that President Trump has made it clear that the US Navy will continue to blockade Iranian ports.
