In a significant operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistan has successfully foiled a major terror plot in Karachi, killing four terrorists, including the commander of a banned organization, Saeed Baloch. The operation was carried out in the Shah Latif Town area of Karachi, based on intelligence reports.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was conducted after the agency received information about a potential terror plot in the area. The CTD officials said that during the investigation of the arrested terrorists, who were caught with explosive material last month, they made significant revelations, which led to the operation.
During the operation, the terrorists opened fire on the CTD officials, resulting in the death of one terrorist on the spot, while three others were injured. However, the injured terrorists succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. The killed terrorists include Jaleel, Niaz, Hamdan, and Saeed Baloch, who was identified later through intelligence reports.
The CTD officials said that Saeed Baloch was a key commander of the banned organization, BLA, and was involved in the killing of over 50 security personnel and civilians. He was also the mastermind behind the target killing of Deputy Commissioner Panjgur, Zakir Baloch. The CTD officials said that Saeed Baloch was also responsible for providing weapons and logistical support to terrorists and planning various operations.
During the operation, the CTD officials recovered explosive material, five hand grenades, and one submachine gun (SMG) from the terrorists’ hideout. The CTD officials said that they are conducting further operations to apprehend the other terrorists involved in the plot.
Two CTD officials, Head Constable Muhammad Yousuf and Sepoy Rajjeed, were injured during the operation and were immediately shifted to the hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Sindh’s Senior Minister, Shahryar Mehmood, praised the CTD for its successful operation, saying that the bravery of Pakistan’s security forces has once again proven that they are capable of tackling terrorism.
The operation comes as a significant blow to the BLA, which has been involved in numerous terror attacks in Pakistan. The CTD officials said that they have evidence that the BLA is being funded and trained by India.
In related news, the Pakistan Army has said that the Afghan Taliban has been using drones provided by India to conduct terror attacks in Pakistan.
The operation also comes as Pakistan and India continue to engage in a diplomatic row over the restrictions imposed on Indian airlines in Pakistan. The restrictions were imposed in response to the Indian government’s decision to ban Pakistani airlines from flying to India.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has declared the Federal Services Tribunal a unconstitutional institution, saying that it is not a service tribunal.
In a separate development, the Pakistan Ulema Council has welcomed the decision to hold an Islamic, Arab, and Foreign Ministers’ conference.
In other news, the Iranian government has said that it will take measures to prevent the use of drones in future attacks.
The operation is a significant success for the CTD, which has been working tirelessly to disrupt the terror networks in Pakistan.
