The Sindh government’s spokesperson, Saadia Javed, has strongly criticized the recent press conference held by the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Manzoor Ahmed, terming it as “baseless and propaganda-driven.” Saadia Javed stated that the claim of no development work being carried out in Karachi is a “misrepresentation of facts” and an attempt to mislead the public. She suggested that Jamaat-e-Islami should focus on the performance of its own town chairmen in areas where they have a presence.
In response, Manzoor Ahmed claimed that the city’s infrastructure is in a critical state, and that the Mayor of Karachi has also exposed the issues faced by the Jamaat-e-Islami town chairmen. He further stated that the Sindh government and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s performance is the reason behind such statements.
In other news, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has recovered 1.45 billion Iranian rials from a suspect arrested in Karachi. A telephonic conversation took place between Deputy Prime Minister Esahq Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated that a political party was misleading the public by claiming that Pakistan’s naval fleet was bankrupt and inoperable. A police team was involved in a dacoity case, but was fired upon, and efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In a separate incident, a former husband allegedly opened fire and killed his former wife and two children in the town of Baldia, Karachi.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, has demanded that the price of petrol be reduced to Rs. 250. Nasir Shah stated that tribal elders have been asked to take charge of the jirga process, and if they fail to deliver, strict action will be taken.
US President Donald Trump stated that his representatives will be visiting Islamabad, and will be present for negotiations. Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, advised Hajj pilgrims to follow the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s guidelines.
Senior leader of the ruling party, PML-N, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has saved the country from default. Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, emphasized that the unity between political and military leadership is the guarantee of Pakistan’s strength.
Iranian Army Chief, Amir Hatami, stated that Iran’s military is ready to make sacrifices and defend its borders. An American advance team has arrived in Pakistan ahead of the second round of talks between Iran and the US. Hotel bookings in Islamabad have been suspended until Friday, and the city is bracing for a visit by the American team.
The Iranian negotiating team has not yet made a decision to send a delegation to Islamabad for the second round of talks with the US.
