According to Senator Tarar, the 47-year-old tension between Iran and the United States has been ongoing, but the two countries have been seated at the same table, with both parties having agreed on several points. However, he noted that any agreement would require the approval of both countries’ leadership before it could be finalized.
The Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, expressed pride in Pakistan’s role as a peace advocate on the international stage. He stated that the country has emerged as a champion of peace, and its efforts to bring Iran and the United States to the negotiating table have been welcomed by the international community.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration has taken steps to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the city’s residents, including the distribution of masks and sanitizers. The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Dr. Umar Shahbaz, stated that all shops and markets would remain open, and the police would be present on the streets to maintain law and order.
In other news, the Human Rights Council of Pakistan (HRCP) welcomed the efforts of the Pakistani government in facilitating talks between Iran and the United States. The HRCP’s Secretary-General, Hafeez Naeem-ur-Rehman, stated that the people’s support was essential for any government to deal with difficult situations.
On a different note, a young girl who had gone missing from the Site Area in Karachi was found safe and sound in the Drug Road area. The suspect, who was a lecturer at a private medical college, has been taken into custody.
In a related development, a student who had gone missing from the Bilawal Town area in Karachi was found safe and sound at the Civil Hospital. The Deputy Commissioner of Karachi, Manzoor Khan, stated that the city’s sewerage system would be overhauled, and clean water would be made available to the residents.
In the North Waziristan region, locals have been forced to cross the river using makeshift bridges due to the floods that have damaged the infrastructure. In a separate incident, a school built in Jhang in 2014 has yet to start its academic sessions due to various reasons.
The Iranian Parliament’s Speaker, Bagher Qalibaf, and the Iranian Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, have returned to Tehran after attending the talks with the United States in Islamabad. The US officials have confirmed that the entire US delegation has left for Islamabad to participate in the talks.
