The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) request to hold a rally at Liaquat Bagh on April 9. According to the Deputy Commissioner, the security situation in the city is precarious, and the imposition of Section 144 has created a challenging environment for large public gatherings. The official added that the PTI’s rally request was rejected following the recommendations of the District Intelligence Committee, which deemed it unfeasible to provide the necessary administrative and logistical resources for a massive public event.
The PTI, led by Chairperson Imran Khan, had announced the rally in Liaquat Bagh, but it has been postponed following the government’s decision. The move comes as Pakistan takes center stage in international diplomacy, particularly in efforts to de-escalate the conflict in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the federal government has decided to launch a massive youth empowerment program in Sindh, targeting the province’s youth, students, and unemployed graduates. The program will be launched on a platform led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi.
The international community has praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and the United States. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has commended Pakistan’s leadership, stating that the country’s efforts have been instrumental in bringing about peace in the region.
