Iran is reeling from the devastating consequences of US and Israeli airstrikes on Tehran’s oil depot, which has sparked a massive oil spill and engulfed nearby streets in flames. The Iranian capital’s sewerage system has been contaminated with oil, causing a river of fire to spread along the city’s roads, with locals referring to it as “River of Fire.”
Social media platforms are filled with videos of the catastrophe, showcasing a street in Tehran where flames are constantly burning. According to officials, the oil spill’s sewerage lines have caused fires in some areas, posing a threat to the city’s infrastructure and environment. Experts warn that if the oil spill is not contained immediately, the fire could spread to more areas, putting the lives of civilians at risk.
Earlier, Iran’s Ministry of Oil confirmed that three oil storage facilities were targeted in the Israeli airstrikes, including one in the industrial city of Karaj in the Alborz province. According to a Washington Post report, a classified report states that Iran’s opposition is divided, and it is unlikely that they will take control of the country.
In response to the US-Israeli airstrikes, Iran has launched a series of attacks on Israeli and American targets, including the Haifa refinery in Israel and the fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport. In a statement, the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they do not want to get involved in any conflict or tensions. In a surprise move, Switzerland has condemned the US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran, calling them a violation of international law. The move has been seen as a gesture of solidarity with the Iranian people. The Emirati Ministry of Defense has confirmed that four people have been killed in Iranian attacks, including Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationals.
Meanwhile, in India, the Hindu nationalist politics has raised questions about the loyalty of Muslims. Mohammad Mir Baqir, a prominent figure, has stated that most members of the ruling party are in agreement on the selection of a new supreme leader.
