The ongoing conflict between Iran and the international community has taken a dramatic turn with US President Donald Trump stating that he is unhappy with the negotiations and wants Iran to completely halt its uranium enrichment program. Trump emphasized that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons and that he does not want to use force against Iran, but at times, force becomes necessary. He also expressed his expectation of further talks by this weekend and his desire to reach a deal with Iran.
On the other hand, a senior Omani diplomat stated that Iran has shown willingness to stop enriching uranium. The diplomat added that the current talks are focused on zeroing out uranium enrichment, as having enriched uranium would make it possible for Iran to produce nuclear bombs. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran’s military was prepared for this day.
The situation has taken a turn for the worse with a missile attack on Jordan’s Mafraq base, which targeted American forces, and explosions also reported in the Saudi capital Riyadh. The attacks have been widely condemned, with the US, Israel, and other countries expressing their opposition to Iran’s nuclear program.
In a recent development, Israeli forces announced that they have targeted hundreds of Iranian military targets in western Iran during airstrikes, including missile launchers. The strikes came after Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohammad Pakpour took over the leadership of the IRGC in June 2025 after the death of Hussein Salami in an Israeli airstrike.
Initial reports suggested that 5 people were killed in the attacks, but a French news agency reported that the casualty count has increased. An Israeli official stated that the consequences of the US-Israeli operation are unclear. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the attacks and called for regime change in Iran.
In a separate incident, an explosion was reported in Dubai, and the European Union has called for immediate talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan to reduce tensions in the region. The Iran nuclear talks have been described as a mere facade, and the situation has raised questions about the whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The former Shah’s exiled son, Reza Pahlavi, has called on the Iranian people to take to the streets again, stating that the time for protests is near.
Further developments in the region include reports of explosions in Bahrain’s capital Manama and in the Saudi capital Riyadh. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation against Iran is aimed at removing the Iranian regime’s threat.
The situation has also led to a situation in Pakistan where fuel reserves have been exposed due to the ongoing tensions in the region. The Israeli military has announced that it has targeted hundreds of Iranian military targets in western Iran during airstrikes, including missile launchers.
In a separate development, Pakistani security sources have confirmed that the country’s air force has destroyed Afghan forces’ headquarters in Kandahar and targeted 2 targets in the Afghan province of Nangarhar’s Mihmand Dara Base.
