The Pakistan Air Force has launched a series of airstrikes against alleged Taliban targets in Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including two high-ranking Taliban commanders. The security sources confirmed that the airstrikes were carried out in the Dar-e-Baba area of Afghanistan’s Helmand province, close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to the sources, the airstrikes targeted a Taliban center in the Dar-e-Baba area, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including Bismillah and Rustam, two high-ranking Taliban commanders. The other two individuals were reportedly Afghan Taliban volunteers.
The security officials also confirmed that the Afghan post in the Dar-e-Baba area was also destroyed during the airstrikes. The sources stated that the airstrikes were carried out against specific targets and resulted in increased tension in the border regions, prompting security forces to go on high alert.
In a separate incident, the Government of Pakistan has ordered the cancellation of parking facilities for unscheduled flights at Karachi International Airport, following reports of a possible security threat. The move comes as tensions between Pakistan and Iran escalate, following reports of an alleged Iranian missile attack on a Pakistani airliner.
In a strongly worded statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that the Iranian claim of shooting down a Pakistani airliner was “completely false” and “smacks of propaganda.” The statement also warned Pakistani citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran due to the escalating tensions.
In a related development, the Government of Pakistan has apprehended 83 Afghan nationals who were found to be living in the country without valid documents.
