Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan’s top clerical body, the Pakistan Ulema Council, has announced that Friday sermons across the country would focus on the theme of “Determining the Resolve for the Strength of Pakistan.” The council’s chairman, Allama Tahir Ashrafi, informed Geo News that the council has made a decision to emphasize the importance of unity and resolve in the face of terrorism.
Allama Ashrafi stated that the neighboring Islamic countries have warned Afghanistan’s current leadership not to become tools of the enemy. He added that 12 Afghan posts have been completely destroyed, and 5 others have been occupied by the Pakistani military. The Taliban regime has been accused of supporting terrorist groups, and their failure to take action against these groups has led to a significant escalation of the situation.
The federal minister for information and broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, confirmed that the Afghan Taliban regime has been providing support to terrorist groups. Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that India and its proxies have been dealt a significant blow. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that defensive operations have been carried out in response to terrorist attacks on Afghan soil.
In a related development, Sindh’s education minister, Sardar Ali Shah, presided over a meeting of the Steering Committee on February 12, 2026. The committee approved the schedule for the upcoming academic year, including the admission schedule, examinations, and holidays. Vice President and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has been in contact with Saudi and Turkish foreign ministers.
The opposition alliance has initiated talks with the government after a consultative meeting. Islamabad sources revealed that opposition leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Rana Sanaullah met in Parliament House to discuss the country’s political situation. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the GHQ in Rawalpindi and received a detailed briefing on the situation in Afghanistan from the military leadership.
Pakistan Peoples Party leader and Senator Sherry Rehman stated that Afghanistan’s biggest question is whether they are responsible for their own country or not. The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University in Karachi held its first Senate meeting after 12 years, presided over by the university’s chancellor and Sindh’s education minister, Ismail Rahoo.
The government of Pakistan has imposed a ban on drone strikes within the country. The Higher Education Commission has directed all higher education institutions to complete the hiring process for vacant administrative and teaching posts by August 15, 2026, due to concerns over the prolonged delay in appointments.
