Pakistan’s Minister of Defense, Khawaja Asif, has stated that the country is now ready for an open confrontation with Afghanistan, saying “Dama dam mast qalander ho ga.” He emphasized that Pakistan is not an aggressor but a neighbor who is well-aware of Afghanistan’s schedule. Asif added that Pakistan’s patience has run out, and the country is now responding with full force to Afghanistan’s aggression.
Sources close to the security establishment revealed that two Afghan brigades’ headquarters in Kabul were destroyed during the aerial operations. Asif pointed out that after the NATO withdrawal, there were expectations of peace in Afghanistan, but the situation has taken a turn for the worse. He stated that Pakistan, with the help of its friendly nations, has made diplomatic efforts to resolve the issue. Pakistan has been hosting millions of Afghan refugees for years and continues to provide employment to hundreds of thousands of Afghan citizens.
The government of Sindh, led by Minister of Education, Sardar Ali Shah, has announced the official schedule for the educational year 2026-27, which includes the new admission schedule, examinations, and holidays. The National Assembly’s Steering Committee, chaired by Sardar Ali Shah, has also approved the schedule.
Meanwhile, the opposition alliance has initiated talks with the government, following a meeting between opposition leaders, Mahmood Achakzai and Rana Sanaullah, at the Parliament House. The two leaders discussed the current political situation of the country.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and received a briefing from the military leadership on the current situation in Pakistan-Afghanistan. Sherry Rehman, the President of the Pakistan Peoples Party, emphasized that Afghanistan must take responsibility for its actions on its own soil.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has expressed serious concerns over the delay in the recruitment process for administrative and teaching positions in universities across the country. The HEC has directed all universities to complete the recruitment process by August 15, 2026.
