The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, has lauded the security forces for their swift and effective response to the unprovoked aggression by Afghanistan, calling it a shameful and cowardly act. In a statement, Sadiq reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining regional stability and ensuring the country’s sovereignty. He accused Afghanistan of being a proxy of India and destabilizing the region.
Sadiq stated that Afghanistan has been carrying out terrorist operations against Pakistan on the behest of India, and launching nocturnal attacks on Pakistani checkposts is a despicable act. He asserted that Pakistan’s armed forces possess the capability to give a befitting response to any form of aggression and that Afghanistan has become a den of terrorists.
The Speaker emphasized that Pakistan has always demonstrated patience and tolerance, and has attempted to resolve issues through dialogue. He urged that Pakistan’s ability to withstand pressure should not be misconstrued as weakness.
In other news, the Sindh government has announced the schedule for the upcoming educational year, 2026-2027, which includes the start of classes, admission schedule, exams, and holidays.
The opposition alliance has initiated talks with the government, with a meeting between opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Rana Sanaullah being held in the Parliament House. The meeting focused on discussing the country’s political situation.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the GHQ in Rawalpindi, where he was briefed by the military leadership on the current situation with Afghanistan.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Senator Sherry Rehman stated that Afghanistan’s actions raise a fundamental question: are they responsible for their own territory? The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Umar Ata Bandial, met with the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Saad Rafique.
To commemorate the 7th anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, a special ceremony was held at the Air Headquarters in Islamabad. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah stated that the response from Pakistan’s military is a message to those who look at Pakistan with disdain, adding that Pakistan has already given a strong response to India and is now doing the same to Afghanistan.
According to security sources, there were no casualties in the three incidents. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged Israel to implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and to initiate immediate reconstruction efforts.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, stated that the Afghan Taliban regime is supporting terrorist organizations.
Pakistan has banned the use of drones within its territory.
