Pakistan’s security forces are conducting a nationwide screening of illegal Afghan residents, checking their residency records and identity documents. The operation, which began on an undisclosed date, is focused on sensitive locations, populated areas, and markets in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Muree, Attock, and Jhelum.
According to security officials, 12 Afghan nationals have been arrested during the operation, and their cases have been registered under the Anti-Carriage of Arms Act. The authorities have also seized illegal weapons during the raids. The operation involves the police, Lady Police, Rangers, and Elite Police, with intelligence agencies, including the Dolphin Squad and CTI, providing support.
In a separate incident, a gas cylinder explosion occurred in a house in the Chaman area of Balochistan, killing five children.
