According to foreign media reports, Trump surpassed the previous record held by former US President Bill Clinton, who delivered a 100-minute long address in 2000. Trump’s speech began at 9:12 PM local time on Tuesday and continued until 10:59 PM, marking the second consecutive year he has delivered the longest State of the Union address in US history.
In a statement, Trump said that his upcoming address to Congress on Wednesday morning would be the longest yet, as there was much to say. This marks the second year in a row that Trump has set a record for the longest State of the Union address. In contrast to his previous addresses, Trump’s most recent speech was 25 minutes shorter than his current record.
According to reports, Trump has had a few lengthy State of the Union addresses in the past, including a 100-minute long speech in 2018 and a 102-minute long address in 2019. Trump’s previous record was a 98-minute long address in 2020.
