The Sindh Chief Minister’s unexpected visit to the open court on Tuesday, where he attempted to meet with the Chief Justice of Pakistan, ended in disappointment. The Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, had said that he wanted to show the country that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was not involved in any form of aggressive or violent protest. However, the Chief Justice refused to meet with him, leaving the Chief Minister waiting for over an hour.
In a surprising move, the Chief Minister decided to visit the open court to try and meet with the Chief Justice. He also visited the rostrum and greeted the Chief Justice, but unfortunately, did not receive a response. The incident took a turn for the worse when the police allegedly confiscated a mobile phone from a person accompanying the Chief Minister and deleted a video of the incident.
The Chief Minister has said that the PTI is committed to peaceful protests and will use all options available to them to express their views. He also stated that the party had requested medical check-ups for its members, but this was denied by the authorities.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah briefed Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the progress of development projects in the province. According to the Spokesperson for the Sindh Government, two officials were injured during a firing incident at the Sindh High Court, and they have been shifted to a hospital.
Interior Minister Mohsin Nawaz Kundi has said that increasing collaboration with the Legal Migration system is essential for curbing illegal immigration. The Chairman of the United National Movement (MMA) in Pakistan, Khaleed Mahmood Siddiqui, has demanded that Urdu be declared a full-fledged official language.
In other news, a hearing in the case of Ayesha Khan was adjourned until tomorrow, and the ATC Rawalpindi has summoned the last witness in the case. The Sindh government has announced that the organizers of the door-to-door vaccination campaign will be held responsible for the safe use of drones.
A recent report by the Islamabad High Court’s Spokesperson has stated that security forces have stepped up their operations in the past few days based on intelligence inputs. The Supreme Court has rejected a petition for the reinstatement of police officer Shazad Hussain.
According to the Earthquake Monitoring Center, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck the region at a depth of 114 kilometers. PTI Chairman Imran Khan has said that the party is still protesting outside the Supreme and High Courts during the holy month of Ramadan.
