Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Education, Khalid Mahmood Siddiqui, has emphasized the crucial role of education in the country’s development, stating that the world is witnessing a significant shift towards educational economy, and education is the only way forward for developing countries. The minister made this announcement during the inauguration ceremony of the “New Child Left Behind” campaign in Islamabad, which aims to ensure that no child is deprived of education.
Siddiqui emphasized that everyone must contribute to education, and efforts will be made to enhance the effectiveness of learning programs. He mentioned that when he took over as the education minister, the statistics on education were alarming, and he informed the Prime Minister that the country is facing an educational emergency, with numerous challenges in the path to improving education in Pakistan.
The minister highlighted that one of the biggest challenges is changing people’s mindset, which is an obstacle in promoting education, especially in rural areas, where the inclination towards education is low. He emphasized that efforts will be made to reach out to every household, street, and locality to ensure that no child is left behind.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, briefed Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the progress of development projects in the province. According to the Chief Secretary, two officials were injured in a firing incident, and they were shifted to the hospital.
Interior Minister, Moosa Khan Nayyar, stated that increasing cooperation with the Legal Migration department is essential to curb illegal immigration. Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has urged the government to grant Urdu the status of a full-fledged official language.
