In a massive crackdown on substandard products, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has seized over 1,400 kilograms of expired frozen meat and various other items from markets in Lahore and Multan. According to the Director General of the PFA, apart from the expired frozen meat, 900 kilograms of dal chana, 80 kilograms of basmati rice, 100 kilograms of maize, a chikki machine, and a weighing scale were also seized.
In a separate incident, the PFA conducted a raid in Multan and seized 300 grams of unhealthy and foul-smelling pickles, leading to a fine of Rs 50,000 on the vendor. The Director General of the PFA stated that the production of low-quality basmati rice has been suspended, and a unit has been sealed for mixing maize flour into the rice.
