Pakistan has launched a major operation against dacoits, resulting in the arrest of 355 individuals. The operation, codenamed “Najat Mehran,” was conducted in the Sindh and Punjab regions, with a focus on the Kutch area. According to the District Police Officer (DPO) of Rajanpur, Muhammad Imran, 13 dacoits surrendered during the operation.
The operation involved drone strikes on the hideouts of the dacoits, leading to a significant reduction in their numbers. The DPO revealed that the dacoits were wanted in multiple cases, including abduction, murder, and robbery. Those arrested will be tried according to the law, and 39 hideouts and bunker systems were destroyed during the operation.
Interior Minister Tahir Chaudhry stated that Pakistan is a responsible state and has always strived to maintain better relations with its neighbors. He also highlighted that the export of terrorism from Afghanistan has been a long-standing issue.
In a separate development, a man was arrested in Karachi’s Lyari Chakiwara area on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a minor. Senior Minister Saeed Ghani accused some individuals of politicizing every issue and spreading despair.
The Minister of Defense, Khawaja Asif, met with British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss on the sidelines of a UN Security Council meeting, thanking her for her efforts in organizing an important meeting on Palestine.
In a separate incident, a man was arrested in Lahore on suspicion of killing a woman and then attempting to escape. The police are investigating the case.
