In a significant announcement, the President of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, has stated that Pakistan will observe a single-day fast this year, Allah willing. During an exclusive interview on ‘Jeo Pakistan’ on Geo News, Maulana Azad revealed that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s meeting is currently underway in Peshawar, as has been the case for several years. The committee, comprising the Ministry of Science, Meteorological Department, and Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), guides the nation on sighting the moon for Ramadan.
While the Meteorological Department and Ministry of Science provide direction on moon sighting, SUPARCO’s spokesperson has indicated that the first fast of Ramadan might take place today. According to SUPARCO, the new moon was born at 5:01 pm Pakistan Standard Time on Tuesday, and it is expected to be visible in the sky at sunset today.
