According to the report, the CCD has held 670 encounters in the past 8 months, resulting in the death of 924 suspected individuals. During the same period, only 2 police officials lost their lives in the encounters. The report also stated that the CCD’s working procedures appear to be more institutional than individual, violating national and international human rights laws. The HRCP has also expressed concern about the lack of judicial and magisterial inquiries into the CCD’s actions.
The report highlights the complaints filed by affected families about the CCD’s actions, including allegations of intimidation, pressure, and threats. It is also stated that the police have maintained a uniform narrative that the suspects opened fire first, leading to the encounters.
