Pakistan has decided not to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup due to India’s increasing Hindu nationalism, which has politicized sports, said Federal Minister and Senator Musadik Malik.
Malik said that India has first tried to polarize people over borders and then over water, and now sports. “Sports are a symbol of peace, where players leave behind their colors, caste, and language when they step onto the field,” he added. The Minister emphasized that the true beauty of sports lies in the fact that players compete with each other using their skills.
Malik further stated that Pakistan’s decision to boycott the tournament is a justified move and that India’s politicization of cricket is a very unfortunate step. International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 World Cup was won by India, while the Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship was held in Qatar, where Pakistan’s Aslam Ramzan and Iran’s Shahin Sabzi played in the final.
Pakistan Cricket Team has started their training sessions at the Sindh Sports Complex, where they will be preparing for their upcoming matches. Netherland’s Max O’Dowd said that Pakistan is a tough opponent to beat. In the semi-finals, England defeated Australia, while India defeated Afghanistan.
