Peshawar:
Leader of the Opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr. Ibad Ullah, has revealed that several former provincial ministers are still using official vehicles and government residences despite the formation of a new provincial setup.
Speaking during the assembly session, Dr. Ibad said, “After the change of the chief minister, no cabinet has been formed yet, but former ministers continue to arrive at the assembly in government cars.” He questioned whether these ex-ministers were still occupying official residences as well.
Expressing concern over the province’s security situation, the opposition leader demanded an immediate meeting of the assembly’s law and order committee, saying, “We debated the issue for a month; now that a committee has been formed and the chief minister himself is a member, its session should be convened—military officials should also be called.”
Dr. Ibad emphasized that “change is necessary, but it must be for the better.”
Commenting on a resolution related to Israel, he clarified, “We do not support Israel. Unfortunately, political issues were mixed into the debate today. Discussion should be based on reasoning, not abuse.”
He reminded the house that the ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) was first imposed during the PTI government, saying, “At that time, the prime minister had made it clear that no one should confront the state. Listen to the founder’s speeches—you’ll be convinced.”
He concluded by saying, “It’s the chief minister’s first day; I don’t want to disrupt the atmosphere. Our leader never clashed with institutions. The Army Chief is like a father to the nation—these are the words of our founder chairman.”
