In a remarkable feat of endurance and precision, a contingent of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets — comprising the latest JF-17 Thunder Block III aircraft — has successfully arrived in Azerbaijan, completing a nonstop flight from Pakistan with an impressive mid-air refueling demonstration.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the PAF contingent, including both air and ground crews, reached Azerbaijan to participate in the bilateral air exercise “Indus Shield Alpha.” The exercise aims to enhance operational cooperation, mutual understanding, and tactical interoperability between the air forces of the two brotherly nations.
During the flight, the PAF aircraft showcased exceptional operational skill by conducting in-flight refueling using its own IL-78 aerial tanker, a move described as a testament to the professionalism and global readiness of the Pakistani aircrew for long-range missions.
ISPR stated that the “Indus Shield Alpha” exercise will focus on modern aerial warfare tactics, joint mission planning, and adaptability to evolving technologies in contemporary air combat. The exercise represents a significant step toward strengthening defense collaboration and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Defense analysts hailed the mission as a landmark demonstration of Pakistan’s aviation excellence and growing regional engagement. They noted that the participation of JF-17 Block III — a symbol of indigenous innovation — underscores Pakistan’s technological confidence and its ability to project airpower across international frontiers.
