The Senate committee confirmed that there is no ban on UAE work visas for Pakistanis. It was clarified that if Pakistanis face issues in obtaining work visas, the matter would be referred to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis for resolution.
Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis, assured that any visa-related problems would be addressed by the ministry. During the meeting, Overseas Employment Promoter Aisam Baig revealed that UAE work visas had been “unofficially closed” for the past year, leading to a 50% decline in the number of Pakistani workers traveling to the UAE.
He attributed this to the UAE’s concerns over the increasing number of Pakistanis involved in begging in the country. Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis, Arshad Mahmood, mentioned that 90% of Pakistan’s immigration sector is handled by private agencies, and substandard workers being sent to the UAE is causing setbacks.
UAE Consul General Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi clarified that there were no restrictions on visas, urging anyone wishing to get a visa to approach the UAE visa center.
