Karachi continues to shiver under intense cold, with the minimum temperature recorded at 6.2°C at Jinnah Terminal. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the cold wave is expected to last until January 9.
The PMD forecasted that the city’s minimum temperature would range between 7°C and 9°C in the next 24 hours. Humidity levels are at 27%, with northeasterly winds blowing at 5 km/h.
Other parts of Karachi also reported significant drops in temperature: 7.5°C in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, 11.5°C at Sharea Faisal, 10°C in Mauripur, and 11°C at Bin Qasim.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz highlighted that the cold weather in December and January has been more intense this year compared to the previous one. He added that the cold wave is likely to persist for another two to three days.
Last week, Karachi experienced its first winter rain, which experts predict could further intensify the current cold spell.
Other regions, including parts of Balochistan, are also enduring severe cold. Temperatures plummeted to -7°C in Quetta and Ziarat, while Kalat recorded an even colder -8°C.
