Turbat, Balochistan: A blast in the city of Turbat, Balochistan, on Saturday resulted in four fatalities and 32 injuries.
Police confirmed that five of the injured are in critical condition. However, the nature of the blast has yet to be determined.
A CCTV video showed several vehicles on the road when a large flame engulfed a passenger bus after the explosion.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zohaib Mohsin was also injured in the blast, along with six family members.
According to police, Mohsin and his family were passing through the area when the explosion occurred.
Security forces reported that the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.
The victims, identified as Noor Khan, Abdul Wahab, Ijaz, and Liaquat Ali, were from different areas of Balochistan.
Sources indicated that this attack highlights the BLA’s focus on targeting innocent civilians, having already killed over 100 Baloch civilians in the past year.
This attack follows a similar incident in Turbat’s Dasht area in December 2024, where two people were killed in an IED blast.
An increase in terrorist activities is noted in Balochistan, coinciding with the return of the Taliban government in neighboring Afghanistan.
Condemnations from the President and Prime Minister
President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the incident, offering condolences to the victims’ families and pledging continued operations against terrorism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his sorrow over the incident, stating that “terrorists will not succeed in their nefarious aims.”
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah condemned the attack, calling it barbaric and inhumane.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori also condemned the blast, describing terrorists as enemies of innocent lives.
