Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed that the government and state institutions offered to move the incarcerated PTI founder, Imran Khan, to the Governor House in Nathia Gali, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but the offer was rejected by the party.
Speaking on Geo News’ program ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’, Marwat said, “Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and representatives of the government and the establishment tabled the offer to move Imran to Nathia Gali, but PTI rejected the deal.”
A similar claim was made by Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, who mentioned that Imran was offered to be moved to his residence in Bani Gala to serve the remaining jail term. However, Khan insisted that he would not move unless those detained without trial were released.
Marwat added that the former prime minister was directly approached several times, with an assurance that he would be released by December 20.
Regarding the negotiations, Marwat noted that PTI negotiators had confirmed they were not ready to submit written demands until they had consulted with Imran Khan. The party’s key demands include the release of political prisoners and the formation of a commission to investigate the events of May 9, 2023, and November 26, 2024.
PTI has also warned that if their demands are not met, they will launch a civil disobedience movement, starting with a call to withhold remittances.
