Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Friday that the time has come to eradicate “Fitna al-Khawarij,” referring to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has perpetrated multiple attacks on security forces and civilians.
Addressing the Central Apex Committee on the National Action Plan (NAP), the premier called on federal and provincial authorities to devise a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism and ensure nationwide peace. The meeting, attended by civil and military leadership, reviewed the security situation in detail.
The prime minister highlighted the importance of law and order for national progress and development. He praised the robust response to cross-border attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while cautioning against enemies propagating anti-Pakistan campaigns from within and abroad.
He mentioned external hands operating in Balochistan and emphasized vigilance against conspiracies. Additionally, PM Shehbaz stressed equipping the police with modern tools and ensuring merit-based recruitments to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts.
The prime minister pointed out the rising threat of “digital terrorism,” where misinformation on social media is used to destabilize the nation, and called for immediate measures to address this challenge.
He lauded the recent peace agreement signed during the Kohat grand jirga as a significant step towards stabilizing conflict-affected regions.
Reiterating his commitment to national interests, PM Shehbaz affirmed that personal preferences should never outweigh Pakistan’s priorities. He paid tribute to the bravery of the country’s security forces, emphasizing the need for collective action to eliminate terrorism and ensure long-term peace.
The premier noted that coordinated efforts by provinces and military stakeholders were crucial to maintaining order and addressing security challenges effectively. He concluded by urging unity and determination for a stable and prosperous future for Pakistan.
