Islamabad High Court (IHC) witnessed a significant shift in its seniority hierarchy following the transfer of three judges. Justice Sardar Asif Iqbal became the senior-most judge after Chief Justice following the transfer of judges. A new duty roster for judges to hear cases will be introduced next week, with four single benches and four divisional benches scheduled to hear cases from May 4 to 7.
The Lahore High Court Bar Association has filed a petition in the Supreme Court through Advocate Hamid Khan. A special division bench consisting of Justice Sardar Asif Iqbal and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir has been formed to hear tax cases. Justice Muhammad Asif will be part of two division benches along with two other judges, while Justice Muhammad Asif will hear cases in the criminal and other division benches.
The first division bench will consist of Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif, while the second division bench will be comprised of Justice Sardar Asif Iqbal and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir. The third division bench will consist of Justice Khadim Hussain Somro and Justice Muhammad Asif, while the fourth division bench will comprise Justice Muhammad Azam Khan and Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas.
After Eid, the new roster will be announced, and judges will take to the streets across the country to connect with the public. In a tragic incident, the bodies of five men, who were habitual substance abusers, were found in different areas of Karachi by the Jamaat-e-Islami’s Amir.
