A stunning revelation has emerged in the case of the cold-blooded murder of two Bangladeshi students in Florida, USA. The accused, 26-year-old Hisham Saleh Abu Ghraa, who claimed to be a roommate of the victims, had inquired about disposing of a body using a chatbot just days before the crime. Jamil Lemon, a PhD student in geography, environmental science, and policy, and Nahida Bristy, a chemical engineering student, went missing last autumn.
According to the police investigation, Nahida’s brother, Zahid Hasan, spoke to the Bangladeshi media, stating that the police had informed them that the DNA test of the human remains found in the residence matched Nahida’s. Furthermore, the police revealed that the accused had asked the chatbot, “If someone is thrown into a trash can and then dumped into a dumpster, would they be found?” The chatbot responded, “This is a dangerous situation.” The accused then asked, “How would they be discovered?” The chatbot replied, “They wouldn’t be.”
The police investigation revealed that the accused had transferred the bodies into a compact printer in the apartment’s dumpster on 17 April. The police found Jamil’s student ID card and credit cards inside the printer during the search. The police believe that Nahida might also be dead, although her body has not been found yet.
The police arrested Hisham Saleh Abu Ghraa on suspicion of first-degree murder, with the prosecution alleging that he killed Jamil and Nahida. The police stated that Jamil’s remains were found in a strong trash can, while the post-mortem report confirmed that he died due to multiple sharp injuries.
The police are still searching for Nahida’s body in the vicinity of the Howard Franklin Bridge in Tampa. On Sunday, human remains were discovered, but their identity has not been confirmed yet. The police have taken a professor and a fellow student for questioning in connection with the case.
The accused initially claimed ignorance of the victims and stated that he had never been in their car. However, when the police presented location data, he changed his statement, saying that he had dropped them off at Clearwater. The accused had injuries on his body, including a cut on his finger and scratches on his legs, which he claimed were caused by cutting onions.
Hisham Saleh Abu Ghraa is currently being held in Hillsborough County Jail without bail. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for 2 May.
