Iran has disputed claims by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) that Iran’s armed forces have begun a de-mining operation in the Strait of Hormuz. The head of the Khadim al-Anbia Central Headquarters denied the CENTCOM’s claims, stating that Iranian armed forces have full control over any vessels passing through the strait. This comes after the US CENTCOM claimed earlier that two guided-missile US warships had participated in the operation. Additional US troops and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are expected to join the operation in the coming days. Hegseth also stated that the US warships, USS Frank E. Petersen and Michael Murphy, conducted the operation to protect the waterway.
