Pakistani singer Ali Zafar was recently ordered by the Lahore Session Court to pay 50 million rupees in damages to singer Misha Shafi. This comes after a long and arduous eight-year legal battle between the two parties. The case was filed in 2018 by Ali Zafar against Misha Shafi, who had accused him of harassing her. The court ordered Ali Zafar to pay the damages and also prohibited Misha Shafi from tweeting about the incident.
The case saw a total of 20 witnesses and 284 appearances, with 9 judges being replaced during the proceedings. The court’s decision was made by Additional Session Judge Asif Hyat, who delivered a safe verdict. This is not the first time that Ali Zafar has been involved in a controversy. In 2018, he had filed a defamation case against Misha Shafi, who had accused him of sexual harassment.
