In a scathing rebuke, Ali Reza Syed, Chairman of the All India Kashmiri Conference, has condemned the harsh sentences handed down to Kashmiri women leaders and activists by a Delhi court. The court sentenced Asiah Andrabai, the leader of the organization ‘Dukhtaran-e-Millat’, and her two colleagues, Fahmeeda Sofi and Naeema Nasreen, to 30 years each for their alleged crimes.
Chairman Syed described the sentences as a “murder of justice” and a blatant disregard for the fundamental human rights of the people of Kashmir, which is under Indian occupation. He said that the move was part of a larger campaign to suppress the voices of the people of Kashmir, who are fighting for their right to self-determination.
Syed urged the international community, including human rights organizations, to take notice of the fake charges leveled against the Kashmiri women and to take immediate action to ensure their release. He also called on the international community to support the just struggle of the people of Kashmir and to play a role in resolving the Kashmir issue peacefully.
