The Sindh Judicial Commission, led by Chief Justice Agha Faisal, held its first meeting to investigate the Gul Plaza tragedy. The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Karachi and the Secretary of Law and Interior. The commission has issued a public notice seeking information from the public about the tragedy. The commission has also issued a notice of its terms of reference (ToRs) and timeframe for investigating the judicial inquiry into the Karachi court investigations. The commission has directed the Press Information Department to publish the public notice in newspapers, which includes the commission’s ToRs.
The public notice states that individuals with information about the tragedy can contact the commission through email. The commission has also invited individuals to provide facts and information about the incident, which can be sent to gpi-coi@shc.gov.pk by February 20. The Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, has provided a secretariat for the commission, which is located within the Sindh High Court premises.
Chief Justice Agha Faisal has directed Commissioner Karachi to notify the staff, which will include the registrar, focal person, and experts. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the home of Aun Abbas, who was martyred while trying to stop a suicide bomber. A prayer was offered for the souls of the martyrs.
